Alan Foster is a former British Touring Car Championship driver and class champion. Little is known about Foster's career, although he is known to have competed in endurance racing as well as his exploits in the BTCC.

Background[]

Foster's pre-BTCC career was dominated by his entries in sports car races. As early as 1953 Foster had been entering a Morris Minor which he replaced in 1955 with an MG Magnette.[1] From 1955 until 1960, Foster frequently used an MG A in his endurance racing, while the Magnette would be used in shorter length races.[1] In 1958, Foster decided to enter his Magnette in the newly formed British Saloon Car Championship.

BTCC History[]

1958 would prove to be Foster's only major influence on the BSCC, taking fifth in the final standings and winning the Class B championship that year. Foster, with his MG Magnette run by Dick Jacobs, was able to take three class wins, along with four second places, enough to see him take a clear victory in Class B. Foster would only appear once more in the BSCC after 1958, entering a Morris Minor in round three in 1959, although a pre-race issue prevented Foster from starting the race.
