Dave Newsham is a driver in the 2014 BTCC Season. Having debuted in 2011 for Geoff Steel Racing, Newsham has been an ever present force in the BTCC, with two wins under his belt.[1]

Current SeasonEdit

Newsham is currently competing in the 2014 season with AmD, driving a Ford Focus ST.[1] This is the first time that AmD Tuning have run an NGTC car, but a best finish of ninth at the opening round at Brands Hatch's Indy circuit saw them claim their first points running a new car.[1]

Managing director of Norscott Vending, Newsham began fully competitive motorsport in 2008, joining the TOCA organised Renault Clio Cup at the end of the season.[2] A full season in 2009 was followed by a dominant display in 2010, twelve wins for Newsham was enough to see him take the title.[2] With that, and a single appearance in the Ginetta G50 Cup, set Newsham up for a season in the BTCC.[2]

BTCC HistoryEdit

Newsham's debut came at the first round of the 2011 season at Brands Hatch. Driving a Super 2000 BMW 320si run by Geoff Steel Racing, Newsham claimed a solitary point in six races before leaving the team.[2] A second debut came for Newsham that same year, now driving for Special Tuning Racing in a SEAT Leon.[2] 30 more points saw Newsham take 15th in the driver's standings in his debut season.[2]

Team ES decided to take Newsham in 2012, allowing him to use a Vauxhall Vectra for that year.[2] Newsham would take two wins that year, his maiden one coming at Snetterton, while the second came at Knockhill, his local circuit.[2] 2013 saw Newsham switch to a fourth team, Speedworks Motorsport, although the move did not allow him to add to his tally of wins.[2]
