Douglas John Uren was a former British Touring Car Championship driver, and brother to 1959 Champion Jeff Uren. Uren was not as successful in motor racing as his brother, but did work closely with him during his career.
Background[]
Uren's motorsport career began in rallying in 1954. Working as his brother's co-driver, the pair entered the Monte Carlo Rally that year, taking victory in their class. The pair would become regular faces at the Monte Carlo Rally, often winning their class.
BTCC History[]
Along with his brother, Uren entered the British Saloon Car Championship at the season's second meeting. Using a Jaguar 3.4 litre, Uren competed in Class D, taking third place in the class. Two more third place finishes resulted from Uren's other entries that year. Uren would only enter three more races in the following seasons of 1959 and 1960, achieving a best finish of second in class.
