James Cole is a competitor in the 2016 BTCC season, driving for manufacturer backed Team BMR.[1] Cole made his debut in 2013, however could only compete for half of the season.[1]
Background[]
Cole's career began in Formula Ford in 2007 in his regional series.[2] Victory in that region saw his step up to the overall championship in 2008, before he claimed the title in 2009.[2] British Formula Three beckoned the following year, with Cole finishing second in his class.[2] He switched to Formula Two in 2011.[2]
BTCC History[]
Cole obtained his first drive in the BTCC for RCIB Insurance Racing in 2013, driving a Vauxhall Insignia.[2] Although he obtained several points finishes, Cole left the team half way through the season in order to focus on securing a drive for 2014.[2] Debuting United Autosports decided to run Cole for 2014, in one of their new Toyota Avensis'.[1]
