Team Wood Racing are a British Touring Car Championship team, currently competing in the 2014 season as Houseman Racing.[1]

Current Season[]

TWR are running a single car in 2014, with Lea Wood (a member of the family run team) as their driver.[2] The team are running as Houseman Racing, after Rob Houseman bringing his company to the team as a title sponsor.[2]

History[]

TWR were formed in 2008 to allow Lea Wood to ultimately drive in the BTCC (the team spent two years running in the Renault Clio Cup).[2] Obtaining the sponsorship of Central Group (which meant the team was entered as Central Group Racing), the team's BTC-Spec Honda Integra Type-R was entered at a number of races throughout the 2010 and 2011 seasons.[2] Wood caused a stir at Oulton Park when he drove from 21st to 7th in the first race of the day, despite using the old Integra which TOCA had given a 50kg weight addition (added to all BTC-Spec cars that year).[2]

LW Vectra 2012

Lea Wood racing the BINZ sponsored Vauxhall Vectra in 2012.

2012 saw the team running under the name of BINZ Racing, which gave them enough money to buy the ex-Eurotech Vauxhall Vectra from 2011.[2] Now with Super 2000 equipment, Wood became a regular point scorer, with a best finish of fifth at Oulton Park (his and TWR's best).[2] 2013 saw the BTCC switch to favour NGTC regulations, with S2000 cars limited to competing for the Jack Sears Trophy.[2] Wood took the Jack Sears Trophy by finishing highest of the S2000 cars in 18 of the season's 30 races.[2]

Houseman took over the role of title sponsor in 2014, and, with TOCA banning S2000 cars at the start of the year, TWR bought a Toyota Avensis for Wood to use for the year, as the team aimed to return to being regular point scorers.[1]
